This season went about as perfectly as I could have hoped for. It started out with nice cold temperatures early allowing us to get on snow before christmas break which is always a great thing (better than dryland training that is for sure). Another pleasant surprise of the early season was being elected captain by my teammates. Though the title is largely honorary it was validating to see the years of hard work begin to pay off. I used the money from the scholarship to buy two pairs of poles (one for slalom and one for G.S. ) and my first ever brand new pair of Fisher slalom skis. These turned out to be a good investment as I recorded better than expected finishes in many of my races, especially in slalom. It was in that discipline where I made the state championship team and ended up skiing into 16th in the state meet. Our team won the division title and sent 6 male skiers to the meet of champions (chase included). That was a great way to end the season and was a culmination of my high school ski experience and was honestly my favorite sports experience I have ever had.
In other news I’ve decided to attend Hamilton college in upstate New York. This small liberal arts school was my top choice and I hope to study government there next year. I also am looking forward to exploring the adorondaks and joining their club ski team with my new gear.
Thanks again for giving me the opportunity to better enjoy and compete in the sport I love. Without you this season would have been far less successful.
